Cerebral Palsy

Provides Bobath occupational, physio, and speech and language therapy (outpatient only) on an individual basis, and teaches parents and carers how to continue therapy at home or in school. A letter of referral is required from the child's consultant paediatrician or GP giving a full medical history and birth details. Letters should be addressed to the Principal. On the basis of this information an application for funding may be made to the NHS. The Centre organises post-graduate training courses in the Bobath treatment approach for physio, occupational, and speech and language therapists.

Information and advice for people with disabilities, particularly for those with cerebral palsy. Also have a small lending library with resources about cerebral palsy and resources for children about disability. Open 9am - 1 pm. Mon - Fri with answer machine.

Aims to help people with cerebral palsy to express themselves through sport and recreation by providing opportunities at all levels of ability. Committed to catering for all needs, from the first introduction to sport through to involvement with international teams in World Championships. Offers the chance to become involved for the pursuit of excellence or just for fun and enjoyment.

Aims that all disabled people achieve equality. Scope's work is focussed on four main areas early Years; employment; education and Daily Living. In addition to a range of national and local services, Scope has over 250 affiliated local groups. Helpline is open from Mon-Fri 9am-9pm, Sat-Sun 2pm-6pm. Information and advice is provided on all aspects of cerebral palsy and disability issues as well as information about and referral to Scope services as appropriate. A team of trained Counsellors provides clients with emotional support and initial counselling.
