ACE Centre has a North centre in Greater Manchester, and a South cente in Oxfordshire. They provide information and expertise in the use of technology as an aid to communication. Deafblind UK is a national charity offering specialist services and human support to deafblind people and those who have progressive sight and hearing loss acquired through their lives. DLF is a national charity that provides advice, information and training on independent living to support older and disabled people, their carers and the professionals who work with them. It maintains the UK's only comprehensive database of daily living equipment, DLF Data, which is available on subscription and is used by DLF's national Helpline to respond to over 25,000 enquiries a year. DLF's advice and information is also available free for public use via two online services - 'Living made easy' (www.livingmadeeasy.org.uk), an impartial advice website on daily living equipment and AskSARA (asksara.dlf.org.uk), an online tool that guides users to relevant advice and items of equipment that can help them based on their answers to questions.

Accredited Mobility Centre providing Mobility Services, i.e Manual and Powered Wheelchair, Mobility Scooter and Rollator assessments for older people who have mobility problems and for disabled people. Independent Living Centre which provides information on products and organistions to assist people with disabilities and older people to increase and maintain their independence. This is a free service available to any adult residing in Oxfordshire. They have access to equipment for viewing and demonstration to enable moving around in the house or outside, reaching things, preparing or eating food, getting in or out of bed, using the bathroom, going up and down stairs or steps. An Information Line is available on 01235 524857 (Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm) which provides information such as where to hire a wheelchair, where to find accessible holiday accommodation, how to find a local or national support group for a particular illness. A Resource Handbook is also available on their website. The Centre is open 5 days a week for general viewing. An appointment is necessary to ensure that the equipment required is available. An Occupational Therapist (OT) is available by appointment on a Monday or Tuesday.

MK CIL Disability Information Service is a centrally located charity giving confidential, free and independent information to disabled people, their families, carers and associated professionals. The wide range of subjects covered enables people with disabilities to make informed choices and enhance and maintain independence. MK CIL holds the Community Legal Service Quality Mark for information provision. CIL has a database of both local and national support groups, a working stairlift and a vast database of disabililty equipment - to source any clients needs. The Centre has a kitchen, bathroom and other demonstration equipment for people to come in and try out. In addition, a dlf database is held and can be used to source any equipment requirements. The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) hold weekly appointments at CIL and can offer advice on Benefits; Debt; Consumer Issues; Housing; Family Law; Immigration and Employment Issues. CIL staff are able to help with the filling in of DLA and AA claims packs. The Centre is level throughout with automatic doors at the entrance. There are adapted toilets and there are also meeting rooms available for hire. CIL is open each weekday from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Blue Badge parking is sited at the front of the building. CIL is located within the Church of Christ the Cornerstone opposite Marks & Spencer in Central Milton Keynes.

National independent consumer research charity. Publishes free, practical unbiased reports for older/disabled consumers based on thorough professional research. Rica carries out a range of research: mystery shopping, user assessments/tests (eg packaging, mobile phones), laboratory tests, survey research and helpline/service evaluations. Latest consumer reports available: Wheeled walking frames, riser recliner chairs, medicine boxes & dispensers. There is detailed information/advice on: Driving and car adaptations Free driving reports are available in print and online: Choosing a car, Car Controls, Getting a wheelchair into a car, Getting in an out of a car. Specific guides: Motoring after amputation, Motoring after brain injury, Motoring after a stroke, Motoring with arthritis, Motoring with cerebral palsy, Motoring with multiple sclerosis and Motoring with restricted growth. Cars measurements: which car? The Rica online œFind a Car database has key measurements on car models. Search to obtain a short list of cars that have, for example, the right height car seat, door opening to get in or out, and/or a large boot. There are over 650 cars featured and new models are added all the time. There is a detailed factsheet of each car model with the measurements and this can be downloaded or printed. Powered wheelchairs & scooters Rica has an online database of over 100 powered wheelchairs and scooters. Search on key features, measurements, accessories and the person needs. It has price information and gives advice on insurance, maintenance and where to do for independent advice.
