Royal charter organisation created to help British industry compete in European and international trade markets. Provides a range of services to its members and to industry in general, from British Standards and standards information facilities, to its mark of product quality, the Kitemark.

Aims to give the public confidence in the integrity of charities. Commissioners are appointed under the Charities Act, 1993 principally to further the work of charities by giving advice and information and checking abuses. Maintains a public register of charities, investigates misconduct and the abuse of charitable assets, and takes/recommends remedial action. Provides advice to charity trustees about their roles and responsibilities. Information and most services are free.
